TOMIA - WAKATOBI INDONESIA [Scuba Diving]

WAKATOBI, finally!  One of the top destinations in Indonesia for scuba divers.  Top 3 places I'd like to visit in Indonesia are: Raja Ampat, Alor and Wakatobi.  And probably the top most expensive destinations, so it needs time to save up for it.  However, when I ask my fellow divers who have been to these top 3 dive destinations and Komodo, they still very much prefer Komodo over Raja Ampat and Wakatobi.  Komodo is way cheaper and accessible than Raja Ampat and Wakatobi.  Anyway, going back to Wakatobi, I didn't do much research about how to get there and what to expect when reaching the island.  It was a long long journey to from Jakarta to Wakatobi, took me 3 flights and 1 boat ride to reach Tomia (the To in WaKaToBi).  Tomia island is where most of the dive sites are located.  Despite the tiredness from almost 15 hours of traveling, the island is beautiful - one word: serene.  I was off the grid.  No mobile connection (my mobile provider couldn't reach the island) and no internet.  Island is powered by a generator so electricity is on from 3pm to 6am next day.  I stayed in a traditional guest house, not in a hotel/resort, who serves meals either seafood or veggies.  I sensed chicken or beef is a luxury in this island.  

I totally didn't mind the 'back to basics' life.  More about WaKaTobi.
